This is how the Spanish Cupra has relocated to China
In China at the Volkswagen Anhui facility, production of the Cupra Tavascan electric crossover has started. And we are talking about the model for the European market: this model will be exported from China to Europe. In 2024, the same plant will start producing a new electric model – already for the domestic Chinese market.
Volkswagen used to have two joint ventures in China: SAIC-Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen. Volkswagen Anhui is the third, and it specializes exclusively in electric vehicles.
The Cupra Tavascan is built on the MEB platform and is essentially the equivalent of the Volkswagen ID. 5. Dimensions of the crossover are 4644 x 1861 x 1597 mm with a wheelbase length of 2766 mm. The base version has rear-wheel drive and 286 hp, while the top version has all-wheel drive and 340 hp. The capacity of the traction battery is 77 kWh, the range of the rear-wheel drive version – 550 km, all-wheel drive – 520 km.
